d’strict Remix|Exhibition Introduction

How do people, nature and technology co-exist and co-ordinate with one another? That is a question we encounter every day and a question that deserves our introspection. In ‘d’strict Remix’, Oi! upholds its belief in promoting living well as it explores how to expand the various possibilities of our lives. Digital technology is placed at the centre of art creation and applied in building connections and the symbiosis of people and nature.

The artworks presented by d’strict reveal that nature and technology are non-dichotomous. Viewers can experience the beauty and power of nature through these arts, which are the vivid outcome of digital media and technology interventions. Two of the pieces Wave and Whale have been shown in different cities. Variations of them are now displayed in the new extension at Oi!, where an immersive landscape of nature has been crafted with art tech to span the dimensions of the physical range.

Wave was created when citizens around the world were fighting the ruthless spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The gigantic waves depicted are much more than a visually striking feast of imagery. They also convey a heart-warming message that our city will soon welcome a perpetual flow of vitality. It has been awarded the Sliver Award at the ‘DFA Design for Asia Awards 2020’ and the Gold Prize at the ‘iF DESIGN AWARD 2021’

The swimming blue whale in Whale was created from various doodle drawings as a metaphor for the canvas of life. It reminds people to embrace creativity and never to stop pursuing their dreams.
